An Application of Offset Printing Using an Intaglio Plate (Gravure Plate).
- 1.The doctor unit (blade) fills the engraved areas with paste (ink).
- 2.The blanket roll is rolled over the intaglio plate, and the ink is taken up (off) by the blanket roll.
- 3.The blanket roll is rolled over the workpiece, and the ink is transferred (set).
In gravure offset printing, the film of the paste transferred to the workpiece is solid or semisolid.
This means it is not very liquid and therefore suitable for miniaturized prints.
- 1.The paste (ink) taken up by the plate can be fully transferred to the workpiece.
- 2.Surface smoothness: The surface of the blanket is specially processed, with fine-scale surface roughness (Ra) in the tens of nanometers.
- 3.Control of interface characteristics (controlling the balance of take-up and transfer) enables printing with very even film thickness.
