We address health and safety issues through a range of activities. Each business location has its own accident prevention strategies aimed at eliminating accidents, based on the annual policies of the Central Safety & Hygiene Committee. They also hold drills for responding to emergencies such as earthquakes, which have increased in frequency recently in Japan, and take action in response to social demand for improving the environment.
Health and safety are central to all our activities and are the basis of our business operations. It is not possible to offer products that satisfy our customers' requirements while ignoring safety issues. With this in mind we are continuously improving our safety training in order to increase the awareness of our operators to potential dangers in the workplace. At the same time we are striving to improve the health of our employees by addressing issues such as mental health, second hand smoke, and metabolic syndrome.
In 2010 the entire company implemented the Health and Safety Management System OHSAS 18001. Risk assessment is performed so that countermeasures can proactively implemented before accidents or injuries occur. Such health and safety activities don't end, but are part of a continuous process of improving the safety and comfort of the workplace. In addition to physical safety, we are also working to improve the mental health of our employees.
